Our Statement of Purpose
Mikes
Dog House, Inc
Is a FL Non Profit Corporation with
a 501(c)3 tax exempt status. The past and present activities of Mikes Dog
House, Inc have been simply the rescue of good, adoptable dogs from death
row and abusive situations and posting them on the web so that people who
are looking to adopt, can see them. Here are some of the programs we are
striving to accomplish.
HOMELESS
HELPING HOMELESS
Putnam County and most of Northern FL has
a huge overpopulation of dogs and cats. A large facility is badly needed
here. Mikes Dog House plans to raise money to purchase or build that large
facility and eventually improvise a program which will provide housing for
the homeless people who would be willing to volunteer their services to
animal care. Housing and food will be provided to the homeless in exchange
for their service to the animals.
FREE
SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC
We plan to attack the overpopulation problem
by raising the funds to provide an in-house free Spay and Neuter Clinic
as incentive to stop the overpopulation of domestic animals in Northern
FL.
SENIOR PETS FOR SENIOR PEOPLE
Many strays are a result of owner death or
illness. We feel all senior citizens should have the company of a pet if
they desire. This program will encourage older folks to adopt older pets
who normally wouldn't get a second chance. This would enable these animals
to live out their lives and be happy. Older animals are more mello, already
trained, and better behaved which makes them more suitable for older people.
PUBLIC
EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
90% of the overpopulation problem is due
to the ignorance of the owners of these animals. Mikes Dog House will strive
to educate people to create accountability.
LEGISLATION
AND POLITICS
Animal ownership needs to become a "revocable"
privilege. All of these problems are because it is not. We need to lobby
to create new laws and take bold steps in setting standards which will protect
our animals as well as our citizens. When a person is found to be abusing
an animal, not only should they be lawfully reprimanded, their right to
ownership should be revoked. Just as a child molester gets a brand of sorts,
so should the animal abuser. All animals should have to be licensed with
the city and only be licensed if they are up to date with all shots and
have been spayed or neutered unless they are a part of a recognized
Breeding Facility. This should prevent the future creation of puppy mills and help us shut down the existing ones. Mikes Dog House is dedicated to bringing these intelligent
solutions into law. Not just in FL, but in all the states... for
all the Bullie's sakes.
