Myth: All Pitbulls and Bull breeds are vicious and overly aggressive.


Truth: For over 100 years, Pitbulls have been bred for companionship and are now famous for their great temperment Unfortunately over the last 20 years a few of the Pitbull liines have fallen into the hands of criminals who breed for fighting and human aggression. Puppymills and back yard breeding (inbreeding) is another major cause of poor temperment.

 

Myth: They are all Pitbulls.

Truth: American Pitbull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, Presa Canarios,
Cane Corsos, Dogue De Bordeau, Bull Mastiffs, and many others are all called Pits. However each breed has it's own characteristics and standards.

 

Myth: Pitbulls have locking jaws.

Truth: These dogs were bred for gameness because of their sheer determination and incredible focus. There is no mechanism to allow their jaws to lock.

 

Myth: Pitbulls turn on their owners.

Truth: No single, altered Pet Pitbull has ever killed anyone.

 

Myth: Pitbulls are more dangerous than any other breed.

Truth: Any breed can become dangerous if the owner enables it. You get out of your dog what you put into your dog.
